Option 1: Do nothing
This is the most common choice, and often the most expensive one.
Commercial construction contracts are written to transfer risk. Uncapped indemnities, aggressive liquidated damages clauses, tight notice windows for extensions of time. These provisions are standard and they are enforceable.
Miss an EOT notice window and the entitlement is gone. Accept a personal guarantee clause without realising it and the liability follows you beyond the business. One provision, misunderstood or unactioned, can turn a profitable project into a loss.
The cost of one missed entitlement typically outweighs a year of CCC.
Option 2: A day-rate consultant
Independent commercial consultants with the right experience charge $1,700â$2,000 per day. That rate is fair for what they know. It's simply not workable for most $1Mâ$10M subcontractors as an ongoing support structure.
It also means the support is reactive. You call when a crisis is already developing. The best commercial protection is upstream: reading the contract before you sign, setting up your notices before the project starts, catching emerging risk at the weekly delivery meeting rather than after it's crystallised.
CCC brings the same level of expertise at an accessible retainer structure, available before the crisis, not just during it.
Option 3: Document and project tools
Construction project management tools are built to organise documents and track progress. They do that well.
They don't read your contract. They don't tell you which clauses create risk, which notice windows are active, or whether your variation claim will survive a challenge. Filing a delay notice through a document portal doesn't make the notice valid. Validity comes from citing the right clause in the right form within the right timeframe.
CCC is not a software platform. It's a senior commercial operator who knows your contract.
What CCC actually gives you
The commercial protection of an experienced in-house commercial manager, available when you need it, without $250,000 in annual headcount.
We've worked across tier-one PPP and major infrastructure programs, administered contracts on billion-dollar programs, and we understand how the commercial side of construction actually works from the inside. That experience is what you're accessing.
